The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India-Coalition for AIDS and Related Diseases(CBCI-CARD) was established with the blessing of the standing committee of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India in 2009 in order to serve the people of India by improving their health status.

CBCI-CARD currently focuses on tuberculosis control by working through the network of Catholic Health Facilities and Social Service Organization across 19 states of India.



  • conducts workshops at national, state, diocese/district levels motivating, educating & sensitizing healthcare professionals to carry out TB control activities with enhanced professionalism.
  • Organizes review meetings to discuss achievements, identify challenges and take appropriate action.
  • Supervises and monitors the TB related activities in the Catholic Health Institutions in collaboration with state and district level officials.
  • Facilitates the involvement of Catholic Health Institutions under the RNTCP  NGO PP guidelines thereby contributing to furtherance of the growth of public-private partnership initiatives in implementation of the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme.
  • Spearheads advocacy activities in 29 districts across four states under the AKSHYA Project
  • 42,071 sputum positive TB patients were diagnosed from the network of collaborating institutions.
  • 3, 48,172 TB suspects were referred for sputum examination to RNTCP DMCs
